Im Jaco and im new here and to metal detecting. Anybody out there who lives close by? I would like to get some metal detecting friends here. Must admit my first time out felt sooo weird as no one here does metal detecting lol

Hi Jaco

Welcome to the Forum, You will be surprised how many people actually hunt that we dont know about.   I go out whenever my work and weather will allow me too and then dont see anyone else but when i speak to other people they are talking of people detecting and chasing them around the  beach lol.

Try go out different times of the day im sure you will soon see some people

Yeah my Bro PFSANDER told me about this forum which is amazing as now we south africans can share our stuff too. Only had one hunt on saturday and ive put that on the galary if you wanna check it out? Not so much amazing finds but i loved the sarcasm of mother nature giving me a piece of wire as my first find lol.

landuse im too far away from margate. but would love to go hunting beaches as it sounds the most rewarding to me. PFSANDER is the one detecting at margate and im a bit jealous honestly lol

I am also from Springs  . Been detecting for 3 month only but there is lots of places around to detect. Found an 1888 one penny and a 1956 half cent on the weekend just outside Springs. We can arrange to meet up(as you know numbers are good (crime)
