;D Oky today i had a meeting in PTA and desidid to join James K for a quik after work hunt , did Lady selborne bless me , found the following in about 3 hours of hunting

- Two old small bottles ( love the old bottles ) found them next to a signal i dug just barely sticking out.
- an old door or cubbet knob.
- a old lock .
- 1961 1/2c  SA Eendrag maak mag coin .
- Old ashtray .
-  Old bicycle bell .
- Small brass plate reading "SA J 8622 " no idea what it came off.
- And my best find of the year , a Catherine Labouré Miraculous Medal pendant  ,

Lady selborne is a treasure trove , and i urge all fellow hunters to join us on a hunt , before the RDP developments start and all these lost treasures are lost forever .
Thanks JamesK ( coin master) .

Hunting was a bit low yesterday. Only managed obe coin, 1/2d 1952. Did find a lock, a couple of bicycle lisence tags (1956-1957, 1936-1937 and 1957-1958). Also found a small disk with a windmill on it (Strange :o)

Today made for a bit better hunting than yesterday. Managed to get a old toy truck, a large very old padlock that swings open, a heart shaped 1940 Hercules Municipality Dog Lisence and 3 coins:
1/4d 1944
1/2d 1953
and my 1st ever Zuid Afrika Coin, a Penny of 1930

Well, it was off to Lady Selborne again as usual.....Lol.....As usual she did not dissappoint. Decided to hunt a section I partially hunted when I just started with the Hobby a year ago and still had no knowledge of how my machine works. Those days is was more trail and error than anything else. Eric also joined in today and managed to pick up an awesome BP Token of Sally Little - Aparently a famous golfer.

I managed to get a few coins:
1 Cent 1961
1d Penny 1942
1/2d 1935 (Damaged with hole drilled in over date)
3 pence 1926.....Love this one
Also got 3 x Old 2 cents and 4 x Small 1 cents which was very corroded. Did not even bother to include in the pics. Obviously it will be business as usual tomorrow so, anyone looking will know where to find me....Hehehehe....Coil to the soil mates.

Awesome finds James.

I'm always surprised with the excellent condition of the coins.
Maybe it has something to do with the soil condition or the metal composition of the coins?

Well done mate!!!

It could be the soil content. All coins I find is washed under running water. Thereafter I dry it and rub it with some vasaline to bring out the dark colour and get rid of the dullness. From there it is wiped off lightly and stored. Might be the vasaline (petrolium jelly) also. Most coins are however in a very nice condition. The silver one's are normally quite tarnished when I get it out but a few minutes in silver dip dolution normally sorts that out. ;)
