Bi-metal R5 coins

  • on: August 01, 2013, 09:38 PM
Hi,
I found this R5 coin on the beach late this afternoon.
Galvanic corrosion is clearly evident between the two metals  (brass centre and copper/nickel ring).
I wonder how easy it will be to 'pop out' the centre brass portion.
My favourite pastime is walking on the beach and poking dead things with a stick.

I found one that has a copper rim. Could be a fake or could mean that the rim is also plated copper. Love em..

I found another fake non bimetal R5 in emmerentia dam but I seem to have spent it. Whoops!!

ps. That red canvas/cloth really makes the nickel pop in the top left photo.
