The fruits of my walkabout this weekend.

Big buckle - may be part of a horse harness.
Hammered copper bangle

Blasting cap - it seems that the explosive part was  intentionally   removed from the cap as you obviously will never find a used cap. The sages informed me that the miners would extract the dangerous stuff to start fires with.

Suspender adjuster
.303 casings
Tent rings
Fly buttons
Part of a silver chain
Great Seal button made by Austin Company Providence Rhode Island  - this one differs markedly from the other buttons I found  in that is flat and gave a 44 on the detector -  Very chuffed.
Webbing buckle
1911 Coronation medal. George V.
Unknown silver tube
1985 1c
1916 Sixpence
1917 Sixpence
1918 Threepence
1942 Sixpence

Many happy hunts.

Eish Wilhelm....Busy bee again I see....Looks like the fun on the Farm just doesn't stop, but as we all know....This is achieved only through a lot of blood, sweat and a lot of trash inbetween. Well done

Lovely finds Wilhelm!!!
Nice spoon and fork and I specially like the old fiets tax plates.
In 13 or 14 years detecting, I never found one!

P.S: Am I right thinking you have to hunt in "all metals" mode to find one of these?
I usually hunt in disc. mode.So there's a great chance I walked over them but my machine didn't see it!

Hi Alain,

I read the book by Randy “Digger” Horton who stated that he favours hunting in all metal mode. He prefers notch discrimination on setting 99 so that every notch is audible. On the 305 the tax tags produce a TID of between 32 and 40, running on discrim would not hide them from the detector. On the other hand it all depends on what they were made of in your part of the world.
Many happy hunts.

Hi Aain

Wheel Tax Tags are plentyfull here in Lady Selborne as you have probably seen from the posts. I have to agree with Wilhelm on the Target Id. It normally falls in the Brass and Silver ranges on the Xterra 305 and should be similar to other machines in this regard.
