  • on: January 07, 2014, 12:36 PM
Hi all

Im looking for a good multi purpose dectector that I can use on the beach and other terrain, going down to the coast shortly and would like to use one on the beach. Yet, when im back I can use it somewhere else.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Bertus

I got my G2 for that purpose.
Will see how it goes this march or april.

I think Margate is most probably scanned flat but I'm going to give it a throw, even if I have to sneak out at night.
I also don't know if the tides will be that "super" by then but I have devised some plans I'll share the success of afterwards.

I was at margate just before christmas, and I was pretty dissapointed with the finds on the beach. There are apparently a few deectorists that frequent the beach. I did however find a mint condition 1943 shilling in the grassy banks just above the kiddies pool

That would make my day for sure, I have seen a detector on the beach when I last went there about 3 years ago. Maybe I'll get some creative inspiration out there and find something cool. To get out there would be awesome enough, ek's niks gewoond nie.

I know it might be futile but want to go and test the Xterra 305 on the beach when we go down this year. I know it wasn't really built for this but still want to give it a go...Will post results once done.

Where are going to a cottage 15m away from the beach, it is also private are and beach. Sure I can find something there - but first need to get one that can work well on the beach.

Eish Bertus

They are a bit above may small change budget allocation at the moment. When I go down in May/June, what I have will have to suffice. Might get more false signals but should still find some stuff.

What I did was follow the curve on the beach created by the retaining wall that makes up the one side of the beach, just below the lifeguard room. It seems like a lot of people have dropped things off the walkway down onto the beach. I made about R25 in 20 minutes. I have posted some pics of the retaining wall I am speaking about, and the grassy banks where I found the 1943 shilling. Have fun
