Went to visit my Sweet Lady again for about 3 hours this afternoon after being away for almost 3 weeks. Initially she opened up shortly after arrival in the first 30 minutes, but soon started playing hard to get again.  At least I did manage to get some from her. ;)

1) An old Teaspoon
2) A piece of ornate metal with Roses on
3) A nice round jewelry case lid with a Heart in the middle and little Cupids around (Well, maybe she still loves me....Hehehe)
4) A small brass broach and a small brass pendant of sorts
5) 1948 Transvaal Wheel Tax Disk
6) 1948/49 Weel Tax Disk
7) 1961 Transvaal Wheel Tax Disk
8) 1950 SA 1d
9) 1948 SA 1/4d (Farthing)
10) 1966 English SA 1 Cent

Lol Tony it is hey. I like to keep finds of each area I visit together on seperate threads. It sometimes feels like I am writing the history of Lady Selborne all over again brining lost history back to life through this thread. You will not believe how small of a section we have covered of the entire area to date in basically almost a year of hunting there.

The image below shows where we have hunted thus far in the RED blocks with the larger yellow area being the rest of the area still to be discovered. Believe me when I say that amongst all the trash in that veld still lies a vast amount of history to be unearthed. ;D

J,

I commend you for the historical angle and your perseverance to unearth and conserve relics of a bygone age. There are some among us that simply sees the monetary value. They  cannot perceive the true joy of holding something in your hand that might be worth a few rand or nothing at all, but  is either  a puzzle to be solved  or a another piece of the jigsaw. And when you find that one piece that induces you to jump up and down and act like a complete loon - it’s just fine, because that carries sweetness and a joy de vivre that the ignorant will never know.
Many happy hunts.

Well boys and girls, today my Lady really smiled graciously on me and got me so exited I was jumping and shouting out of pure joy. To what I can establish, Lady Selborne was a very poor community if I look what we continiously find there. Things like Singleton Super Methol Snuff Tins, Primus Heads, and low monetary value money such as 1/4d, 1/2d, 1d, 3d and 6d coins.

Today started a new chapter in the book of my Lady. The seach for more. Up to so far in almost a year hunting there, I have not found a single piece of silver above a 6d. Today however, giving a perfect constant 40 signal on the X-terra 305 came out a very tarnished 1932 George Rex V 2 Shilling. My first one ever. Believe me, you could hear me shout miles away. I managed to get it cleaned up a bit but a lot more work will be needed to get the tarnish off.

I know for a lot of you out there it might be a very common find, but for me this was my 1st in the Shilling range ever. Sadly also I have to think back to the poor soul who lost it. Thinking back, this could probably have been a week's pay for some family. So there we have it. Today's finds:
1932 George Rex V 2 Shilling
1953 Elizabeth II 1/4d (Farthing)

Although I have found many silver coins, i still rejoice everytime i find one and strangely enough also think of the person who lost such coin

Myself and Tomcat went for a quick hunt this morning with Wilhelm on the farm where TomCat managed to hit a 1 x Penny. After about 2 to 3 hours we decided to return back to my sweet Lady. Must say, once again she did not hold back and gave her all at the end of the day. I stand amazed......Yesterday after almost a year hunting the Lady, she gave up her 1st large silver. Today she made it 2 in a row with yet another 2 Shilling. Wow....Two in two days...Love it.

Herewith todays finds:
1/4d 1950 - Georgivs Sextvs Rex
1/4d 1958 - Elizabeth II Regina
1/2 cent 1964 - Een Drag Maak Mag / Unity Is Strength
1d 1940 - Georgivs VI Rex Imperator
2 Shilling 1955 - Elizabeth II Regina

TomCat also managed another 1/4d which I am sure he will post at some stage.
