I am in the process of finishing off a new carbon shaft for the Sea hunter MK 2, the original shaft is way too loose,flexible and un ergonomic for my liking...The new shaft  started life as a fishing rod which was damaged by a customer at Lucky's fishing shop and I picked it up for R100.00 bucks..the rest of the bits were quickly fashioned on the lathe and mill and the handle is from a mountain bike bar end which has been extended...Total cost of materials around R200.00

Have you guys tried  mounting on the chest or hip, works best for me ? A GoPro camera chest harness works well, go for a clone as the genuine one a bit pricey !
At times have also mounted mine in a backpack frame, once set up all you need to do is reach round the back to switch on/off.

(working/diving in deeper water shaft mount probably the most suitable)

Thanks Allen,I have tried the standard hip mount and I had the control housing floating up and down with the swells which was a tad irritating. I like the idea of your chest mount, what mod do you have to make to the go pro mount?

Here my Sea Hunter "Straight Stick" conversion I completed over the week-end ..... Works like a charm.

I found two old  fiberglass "high jump cross bars" that I had once used as antenna (ham radio ) supports that had the perfect diameter for the conversion, together with a old crutch handle I put together this "Straight Stick"

Also in the pics is the Sea Hunter Mk2 together with a Garrett Carrrot fitted to a GoPro Chest harness.

Two more mods to my Sea Hunter "Straight Stick"  this evening ..........

Replaced the nylon bolt, securing the handle to the shaft, with a eye bolt to provide an anchor point for a shoulder tether strap.

Glued a threaded protective cap to the top of the shaft for storing/securing the coil plug when not connect to the control unit.
