I cannot help you with that detector, as  do not know how it works. Is there a manual that came with it?

Johan..I don't know much about your machine but just looking at the controls it looks to be a pulse induction machine. These machines have a constant background hum known as the treshhold..This hum will be disturbed by a metal object under or near the coil so telling you that you have found a target...
Where is that five Shilling???

I have had my 250 for nearly 2 years, and it is a great machine. I have found lots with it. I am now thinking of upgrading, but not because I hate the 250. I just want to have a bit more discrimination and depth. Ground balancing is also something I want in a detector

I would say the 250 can realistically reach depths of about 15cm, maybe a bit more

Unfortunately at the moment I am only thinking of upgrading. Finances do not allow for me to actually do it :D

A 2 box detector is not what us hobbyists use. They are for some serious detecting, and not for us
