Ya Hunting in Benoni is hard graft,I havnt managed to find a decent concentrated spot that can be physically detected so finds have been random over a large area!!
Where is that five Shilling???

Thanks Shaun
I was lucky to find one Martini Henry that has not been fired that was still in a very good condition. It seems that is a very scarce thing to find. Maybe one would found more down towards Natal and Freestate battle fields because they still had ammunition for them then at that stage of the war. I think in the Transvaal especially Pretoria they started to  use the other rifles provided. But still a very neat collection.
I do it the metal detecter way - swing it around like I just don't care.

The bullet casing came out in a remarkable good state.
The last time I found a horse shoe is 13/14 years ago, in a field in Cornwall UK. ;D

Amazing finds Shaun, hard work obviously paid off! Any examples of shell fragments? I have tried searching, I Found something this afternoon which may be part of a shell, but would love to compare to a pic of a verified example.
