On my 250, all I discriminate is the first two bars which only show iron. The foil and pulltabs get left for me to decide whether I dig them

So I took landuses idea and used it today , it helped allot , my first find was a gold chain necklace !! , then two very old coins . They so in crusted I can't see what they are , and the rest of the digs yielded bottle caps , pull tabs and sinkers , I'll post picks of my finds soon

Electrolysis can ruin coins if left too long. Great news on the gold too!!

Sparrows and a 1 might not only be a 1 cent mate unless it is a coin minted from 1965 onwards. If it is older than 1965 it might also be a 1/4d (1/4 Penny or Farthing). What is on the front? Possible pic will help to identify also

Here are images of the coins. The farthing , the half cent (1961-1964), half cent after 1964 and the 1 cent from 1965 onwards. Hopefully this will help. The key is in the direction the birds face together with the date if visible and the coin size.

The old folks used to say jokingly that from 1965 the people where so cross with each other that it carried over to the birds. From that point forward the two sparrows refuesed to face each other and turned their backs on each other......Lol.. ;D
