If it made your detector squeal there must be metal in it. A metal detector will not react to Iron pyrite (or fool's gold). If it's magnetic it's iron and could be meteorite but your chances of finding meteorite at any other place than in the desert is extremely slim because meteorite will rust away in no time in humid circumstances. If it is pyrite there is a chance that there might be traces of gold and you will have to crush it and run it through a concentrator or concentrating process to extract the gold.
