Hi everyone, I started poking around in the ground about a month ago. My other hobbies are photography and dinghy sailing. I'm 60 years old and consider metal detecting as a kind of yoga, all the bending to keep my body from seizing up.
Sunday I went down to Three Anchor Bay to have a poke around. Trash deluxe on the sand but went to the sandy patches amongst the rocks and got my best find yet. A silver chain and a 1910 Australian Florin/ 2 shilling coin. Not in good condition, a bit thin but I'm as happy as a pig in shi..... er mud ;D.
I'm using a Garrett Ace 250 and a Garrett (a godsend) Pro-pointer. Found a sliver of some metal, stainless steel or silver, 30mm by 5mm +- at about 150mm - 6in, so the Ace cant be that bad.
Good hunting.

Hi Guys, Nice meeting you all. Will take some pics as soon as I get a chance. First time I went a hunting, I felt a bit of a poepol with everyone staring. After a while I got used to it and had some pleasant conversations with strangers from all walks of life coming over for a chat. It's an interesting hobby that doesn't end when you get home. The internet makes things so much easier today with research, Google Earth, ect.
Keep well all, chat soon.
