Hi Pit
Welcome to the forum. I'm originally from Middelburg but been in Pretoria the last 6 years or so. Hope to see your finds coming in soon. I recently hunted a piece of veld just outside Kanonkop and had some great Boer War finds. Your area should have some good hunting spots also. Enjoy :P

Thank you ....Yes but Middelburg is known to have more Boer war relics. Witbank was only a stop to sleep over and I think the original spot is full of buildings. but there is still some places to go hunting. Will post my finds later.
PS JamesK ...nice finds there in lady selborne. Looks like there is still a lot to be found.

Thanks Pit. Yes, there is still a lot to come from Lady Selborne. I have only covered a small piece of the area. In Middelburg I still have to cover the open veld below the cemetary. As I undrstand it, the cemetary is the location of the concentration camp. Hence the surrounding areas though polluted might yield some significant finds. I spent an hour or so there in August. Found 2 x Cartridges and a Stirrup. The Kruger dam area also needs some investigation to the side of Aero rand. Then there is the Kanonkop section also including the Meijersbrug area. I drove past there but must say it is totally messed up with trash everywhere.

That whole area deserves some spot checks all the way to the dam.

For sure it needs some spot checks. But hopefully I can do that soon, just have to do Quads 4 Quads , up run from Durban to Carnival city. Work is the other problem, they are planning some maintenance activities  :(. Just have to make a plan. Was metal detecting this weekend , found some strange things lol.. and a 1/2d 1/4 d both 1950. Really need some older coins  ;D  I found these graves in the middle of the field and some are very old 1844 -1898, but what looks like the old house foundation did not give any valuable treasure, maybe its not the right spot , but will try again if time permits. Did however find a round ball of brass, like a ball bearing??..very strange but will post pic later
