So I decided to try this again, but this time taking Brendan's suggestion of detecting in front of a school in turn. There is a girls school in seen old part of town that I decide to go to. The curbstrips are nice and wide.
Once again, I found it very difficult, as the area is very trashy. I am sure I missed targets in the middle of all the chatter. I did get some nice finds again, but I had to work for it as the ground was quite hard
I got:
Brass ring (Nice find)
Part of a watch
Some 1c coins
2c coin
Singletons snuff box (squashed)
Zip
Nut

Nice finds Paul, nice old ring. The fact that theres a singleton snuff box there means theres old stuff to be found. Theres a old primary school 2 blocks away from me with a wide curb strip. i think i will try it next weekend. Ill keep you up to date if i find anything.
Cheers and happy hunting :)

I have had some good finds along the pavements heading away from schools especially on roads that may also lead to an old cafe. Lots of us walked home back in the day. Also look for roads with big trees that prevent the.grass from growing on the pavements as digging is easier ... Another good spot on pavements are the old buss stops

Nice going there Paul
