Whoop-Whoop - the event not to be missed!
Look forward to seeing you all there.

Guys I would really like to go but it's far ( 663,7 km) and will be expensive w.r.t. fuel, not to mention having to stay somewhere... Any ideas?
-
I hope I can make it. Maybe I won't be there by 10 but at least I might be there just after 11. My grade 1 daughter is playing her first netbal game ever, so it is something I will have to attend first.
Demian what about toll gates? Hope you can make it, it is a once a year event.

Exactly Alf... :o And if you consider it's up and down then things really start getting out of hand... :o I'm even keen to club in with a few guys, we can split all the costs... ???

Hi Boys and Girls
If anyone is interested in having a copy of the PDF format books I use to identify coins, bring a memory stick (2 gig or larger) along with yu to the Go Minelabbing event. I will gladly give it to you. Unfortunately I can not email them due to the huge file sizes. 200 to 480 Mega Bytes.
-
See you all at Go Minelabbing.
-
Enjoy the day tomorrow guys. I hope the finds are many!
-
Thanks Paul. Will try to post some pics like we did last year

Time has not been on my side lately with several f my own finds still to be cleaned up and posted. I did manage today to download all the Go Minelabbing 2015 pics from the facebook page so here they come. Please feel free to add in what you have.
-
It was a fine quiet day on 16 May 2015 at the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria. Just the right time for the International Go Minelabbing Day. Some people arrived earlier than others but where all greeted by the team of Minelab South Africa lead by Oom George Olivier. Everyone got parking and settled in before signing up at the Minelab Stand and receiving their Goody Bags.
Here are the pics
-
Some more pre-event pics
-
The Minelab Tent
-
Signing in on arrival
-
Some more pics!!! And we have not even started the event yet....Lol
-
Almost ready to start.....Some more pics of the area and parking
-
Some more
-
Last of the arrival pics and prizes table......At last....Next up the Briefing......Stay tuned
-
Once everyone got signed in and settled in it was briefing time. Oom George and the team with all hands on deck stood ready to give the much needed lecture. On the table in front some old photos and tent placements dating back to the time the monument was constructed. It was awesome to hear some more facts regarding the monument and the area we where about to hunt in. It was really awesome to be able to hunt in such a historic South African venue.
-
Oom George telling us more of the area and using the maps for clearer understanding :D ;)
-
During the briefing everyone was clearly pointed in the right direction with the Minelab Team Standing close at hand. ;)
-
Just look at the consentration on the faces of the hunters.... :o
-
Quite a few forum members was in attendance representing our great forum on this International Day.
-
The gathering of both hunters as well as family and friends that came along for the day......
-
Finaly we came to the end of the briefing and the start of the hunt. Everyone still pondering over where to scram to once the go ahead is given. Looking at Tom's face anticipation was definately in the air
-
Thank you very much for posting all those photo's James... ;D
-
Some more pics anyone??? This is where the hunt begins with hunters scattered in all wind directions, all eager to get their nicely cleaned digging equipment into the "soft soil" Man oh man can I tell you that those who have not hunted the Voortrekker Monument in 2014 was in for a :o HUGE :o supprize!!!!! The soil was about as soft as concrete which they where about to find out. ;D Event Tony had to make use of a rubber hammer to get the job done!!!
-
Although the ground was hard, at least the grass was short that made for some low and slow detecting ;)
-
Is this treasure hunting or treasure seeking??? Still unable to decide at this point in time....Lol....Ahhhh, I know....Lets ask for some advise. Maybe, just maybe the right answer will come forth
-
Thanks for sharing - gives us all some great insight into this wonderful event.
-
In the word of grand master JODA..... Dig You Must, Find You Will 8)
-
If at first you don't succeed, keep going!! Coil to the soil mates ;D
-
How hard can it really be (That is metal detecting obviously and not the Monument grounds - We all know how hard that is)?? Some went as far as beating around the bush while others dug and stuck to open territory
-
Have you ever heard of search and destroy? Well this was very similar.....Search for the object and destroy the bones in your hand from trying to dig. And so the hunt continued....
-
While the hunt was in progress, the Minelab Team managed to provide a Eagle's Eye View of the hunt and surrounding areas. Abolutely awesome, these images was shoft from the Monument.
-
And then, with just as much enthusiasm as all started, it was time for a last sweep before heading back for the debrief and finds evaluation prior to announcing the day's winners. Looking at my face you can see it was a hard day. Eish :o
-
Throughout the event Oom George, Werner, Quinten and the rest of the team was always on standby observing and always eager to assist. Thank you Minelab SA
-
Assistance and advise on the go
-
There's some great' shots' with the monument in the background... 8) I WILL NOT be missing the next one, that's for sure... >:(
-
All finds got bagged, tagged and handed in to be judged by the Team. It was on the table for inspection to all.
-
For the "Hunters" it was a waiting game in eager anticipation while the finds was being judged. A lot of us wound down after a hard day and took the opportunity to share information and make new friends.
-
Anticipation in the air.....Come on guys...Hurry uuupppp
-
Family and friends all over. One big happy familia
