Cheapest is the c scope 4pi but is not waterproof. Excellent for the wet sand. Garret sea hunter is totally waterproof and not a bad price if you look on ebay.

I saw a Fisher on Junkmail yesterday for R3800.00, I don't know this one is good on wet sand.....Luuk will know

Deon, there is a Teknetics G2 on Gumtree for R7500 in Cape Town.
This is an excellent all round machine. very good on salt water beaches

For the beach buy either Sea Hunter or Excal depending on how much you want to spend. (SH is my personal preference). If you have the experience (and patience) to manual ground balance then you can also consider the CZ-21 or one of the other Fisher beach machines.

The sea hunter is a pulse induction machine and is excellent, the Excal is an excellent VLF machine but we need to keep this real Salvo. ??? do you own a CZ21? What experience and/or patience do you need to ground balance the CZ or any other detector for that matter?
I own a CZ and an F75 and it takes less than 10 seconds to GB and if 10 seconds tries your patience then you should not be detecting :D

Salt water detectors that can detect without compromising sensitivity to gold and good depth are excallibur /CZ21/sea hunter /ctx 3030 /whites beach hunter 300 /and whites PI -Tesoro sand shark -(c scope not waterproof)then you get fresh water detector that can be waterproof but don't do well in salt water

I sold the garrette at pro its a good machine but what they dont tell u its better for fresh water than sea ,,
so I made up my mind im buying a fisher cz21

When people say I would like to hunt on the beach wet sand then ground balance will get you going no problem BUT if you want to hunt in sea water then it is another story
